Once you have decided to have joint replacement surgery, your surgeon will recommend that you participate in the Joint Camp program. An essential part of Joint Camp begins with the pre-operative education class. It is very important for you to attend this class.
During class, you will be given information which will help you make the most of your Joint Camp experience. You will also receive a notebook. This notebook will be your complete guide to having a total joint replacement at Mercy Medical Center or Mercy West Lakes.

As part of Joint Camp, we encourage you to select a family member or friend to serve as your coach. If possible, we encourage this person to attend the pre-operative education class. The coach will help participate in some of your therapy sessions during your time in the hospital. This way, he or she will know how to help and encourage you upon your return home.
