Beginning with a life-saving open heart massage in the early 1900s, Mercy Medical Center has led the region in providing advances in cardiac care to Central Iowans.
For patients requiring heart treatment, the cardiac catheterization lab at Mercy West Lakes includes one procedure room, as well as six recovery bays for pre- and post-care. The cath lab also provides diagnostic procedures for patients with coronary artery and valvular diseases, as well as interventional procedures—such as an angioplasty or stent procedures.
Additional heart-related services—including a seamless system of heart and vascular care, screenings, outpatient clinic visits, advanced hospital care and rehabilitation—are available at the Mercy Heart Hospital on Mercy's Central Campus.
